After months of rumours, it seems that Matter is closed

After months of rumours, it seems that Matter - the London superclub launched by Fabric 2 years ago - has closed for the summer, and perhaps permanently.
A bespoke 2600 capacity club kitted out in state of the art acoustics and light installations, it’s been beset by problems from the start, with the main issue travel: based in the 02 Dome in Greenwich, the club isn’t serviced by a regular tube line, making it difficult to get to. Reports circulated at the start of the year that the club was operating at a loss of £1million, and the recession in the UK will only have made that harder to live with. An official statement said: “We can confirm that the Matter nightclub has temporarily closed over the summer period with a view to relaunching later in the year.
This decision has been taken by the owners of Matter.”
