Already classic album ‘When a Banana Was Just a Banana’ gets remixed

It was touted as the album of the year last year - we certainly loved it and made it Album of the month - but the remix package that’s just been released could be a contender for this year’s as well. Where his fourth album, the intriguingly titled ‘When A Banana Was Just a Banana’ was a nine-track exercise in tech-house anthems, the remix package - ‘Remixed and Peeled’ - covers everything from deep house to house and big room floor fillers. And rather than letting the label pull together the package, Wink took a very hands on approach. Or rather his DJ and producer fans did.

‘Some of Josh’s peers inquired about remixing certain tracks that they liked,’\ his label Ovum told us. ‘Josh then asked other producers whom he liked and respected to pick a track also.’ And so we have Nic Fanculli delivering a stomping house remix of ‘Hypnoslave’, French techno fiends Agoria re-working ‘Minimum 23’ and Freerange head honcho Jimpster editing ‘Jus Right’ into a sun-kissed deep house groover. The album is out now, and you can catch Josh Wink play at iLL Communications on Thursday March 18 at The Rooftop.
