Maximo Park and De La Soul headline Wakestock


Our hopes were high after hearing that Wakestock was to be launched in Abu Dhabi - especially when we found out that Flash, the organisers of Creamfields and The Killers were behind it. And as before, they’ve pulled a stellar - and for you, dear reader - entirely free line up.

Running from Thursday March 4 to Saturday March 6 on the Abu Dhabi corniche, indie-punk band Maximo Park headline the Friday night, with US hip hop legends De La Soul closing the event on Saturday. Both bands have been mainstays on dancefloors for years - Maximo Park’s latest album got the recent remix treatment, with Tom Middleton in particular turning in a slamming, bass-heavy remix, while De La Soul’s seminal ‘Three Feet High and Rising’ album continues to be dancefloor dynamite, with Don Diablo’s rework of ‘Me Myself and I’ currently doing the rounds.

And not only is this all laid on for free, but the world’s best wakeboarders - snowboarding on water, essentially - will be in town, demonstrating their best kicks, flips and super gnarly grabs (ahem). Check our website www.djmag.ae for more information on the line up.
