Dubai – 19 October 2009 – iLL Communications presents the return of club-land legend Norman Jay, Thursday, October 29th at the Rooftop, Madinat Jumeirah. He has played all over the world and is often hired for celebrity parties, fashion shows and film premieres and has won numerous awards, not to mention that he is a member of the MBE. Norman Jay is mostly known for his Good Times Sound System sets at the Notting Hill Carnival, which brings in people  from around the world. Now is your chance to see him live in  Dubai under the stars.
Norman Jay is bringing us his Good Time Sound System brand to the UAE, which attracts a crowd of over 3,000 people at the famous Notting Hill Carnival in England. He is a self-proclaimed house DJ, but don’t be surprised if you find him mixing in some 70’s and 80’s funk and soul as well as a bit of jazz and hip-hop. Playing his first gig at 10 years old, Norman Jay has grown to be one of the most respected household names on the UK dance scene, and one of the most influential club culture figures to date.

Mixmag’s top 100 continually features Norman Jay in the upper ranks as his contribution to the UK music is second to none. Today’s leading deejays refer to him as “The deejay’s DJ”, as he is a major influence and is one of the most credible and popular DJ’s in the country. He is considered “The Peoples DJ” by his fans because of his universal appeal and the width and breadth of his djing style. While the global interest in UK dj and dance culture rising, Norman Jay is extremely popular with the new generation of dance fans around the world.

Then unknown US dj such as Marshall Jefferson, Blaze, Aveda, Tony Humphries, and Little Louis Vega all gained popularity in the UK after Norman introduced them to the country for the first time. Again, he was responsible for reviving and kick-starting the musical careers of US dance divas Chaka Khan, En Vogue, Jocelyn Brown, Sharon Reid, and Gwen Gurthie, securing them UK recognition he believed they deserved.

On June 15th 2002, Norman was officially cited in the Queen’s Jubilee Honors List with the recommendation that he be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) awarded on merit for “DJing and services to music”. A few months later the award was presented to him by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II herself. The MBE was a perfect tribute in the appreciation and recognition of his musical achievements and contributions to music in a career exceeding two decades.
